murph me

occasionally...rather rarely, i get this terribly excited feeling like something is about to blast out of my body. i'm not sure what is about to blast out or from where it's going to blast. it's a little bit mysterious. it's sort of like butterflies, i guess, but more intense. it's one of the best feelings i ever have and it's happening more regularly this year than ever before. i'm having one of the best years ever.
brian and i were out on tour for a couple of weeks. it was mostly awesome.
miserable days of tour are so much more fun when you are miserable with somebody you care about. i guess miserable days in general are like that. for a couple of days of tour, brian and i weren't talking much at all. after we talked some things over and stopped fighting, it was a lot more fun. even when it wasn't fun at all. greenville, north carolina was a fucked up place where everybody under the age of thirty (jocks included) hangs out together and get super-wasted on beer and drugs. we were totally out of place in greenville. baltimore is probably the worst place i've ever seen. i still don't really like new york city very much. it never seems like it is doing anything for us as a band or me as a person. but for some reason, everybody has to play there. it is the place. i just think it sucks. worrying about our gear being stolen, the car being stolen or towed, the traffic, the tolls, the lack of inexpensive parking, the total lack of free parking, the unimpressive turnouts. other than hanging out with our few friends who live there and spending a lot of money on food and wanting to spend a lot of money on other stuff, there's not really any reason to go there. but, brian and i are both getting really good at driving there. college shows are awesome. we met a lot of incredibly nice people who let us sleep on their floors (or beds or couches), eat their food, use their hot water and fart all over each other. providence was possibly the best show of tour. it was a pretty huge warehouse party that was not out of control. the rochester show was pretty awesome. we played at a cool d.i.y. artspace. the gallery was full of the work of a pretty great artist named luke ramsey. there was a super-eclectic crowd. it was a most random mix of people. plus we got to play with roger houston again. also buffalo was a really fun show. i really like driving on the highway and i'm starting to be okay with driving in cities. i think my favorite band that we played with on tour was green milk from the planet orange. also, numbers, the mall, triangle forest, mahi-mahi, double dragons, and of course mixel pixel and zom zoms were all awesome. at a weird town in the middle of nowhere, Virginia, there was this crazy junk store with a whole lot of garbage and about five thousand records. most of them were water damaged and even more of them were just bad music. among them, i found a mint condition Lio record with an autograph inside. "hello jeff, i give you a great big kiss. Luv Lio" there's a whole lot more i could write but i'm just not too keen on writing right now.

"it will be like that busta rhymes and missy elliot video, but everyone will be coming on each other" - b. esser

life rules still.
a lot of neat things have happened lately.
canadian cigarettes have pictures of bloody hearts or brains or dead babies on them.
buffalo, new york is a nice town with a super-awesome venue run by super-awesome nicedudes.
getting fed for free at least three times on tour is awesome.
getting offered pot at least four times on tour is funny.
door is still an asshole, he's a lot louder now though.
dynasty is sick and really nice.
aids wolf shreds and they are all radical people.
i bought twenty records on tour and spent less than twenty dollars on records on tour.
i like new york city when i don't have to worry about parking or gear safety or driving much.
sleeping in the car with six heavy wooden boxes, a keyboard, an organ, and a subwoofer is sometimes a better idea than lugging six heavy wooden boxes, a keyboard, an organ, and a subwoofer up several stairs.
rob from mixel pixel is really nice and he let us argue and fart on each other on his floor.
phillip k. dick sucks, sorry rob.
toronto tad drew us a map of downtown toronto with points of interest pointed out.
it was one of the sweetest things anyone's ever done for us.
i miss the band of the name.
north and sourth carolina are beautiful calm and also a little boring, but really nice.
and driving to and in these places with somebody i care about and enjoy being around is really really great.
also:

balletic
dinosaurian
strong tang
people shakers
hidden valley death camp
wifecycle
crumpled up ball of something
public putz number one
there's a lot more of everything but i'm really not interested in elaborating much.

life is still awesome right now.
yip-yip wrote a really nice new song with lots of notes and changes and it's not insane or noisy but interesting and musical. it was really a fun song to write because brian and i really worked on it together instead of our usual 'pass the mic' way of writing stuff. we haven't worked really really together on a song in a long time. it was super-awesome just sitting on the organ with him for several hours jamming. we basically wrote the song in less than a week. and then tweaking took another week, maybe. i'm really happy about it.
birdie is absolutely awesome and i really like when we hang out.
brian and i are leaving in one week. i'm pretty excited about playing in a few of the places we are playing...especially Canada. i hope they let us in. i'm not really excited to be going to new york. i really don't like new york much. it will probably be alright though. we'll be with mixel pixel and some other friends are going to be there. it's also going to be nice to be away from walgreens for two weeks. i'm pretty bored with it right now.

here are the most recent funny or interesting sounding things i've read, heard, or thought:
delicious vices
his name is namath
happy egg
torch oil
goat's milk fudge
mini dump
blackboy
jurassic changes
video adventure
pseudocereals
sugar cotton waddings hell
Gerd Gickel
blood of the vanquished
obvious wiggle
child syrup
food or foot?
goosefoot family
taco treat

keep your shirt on - Appears to suggest that one should calm down because romance is not imminent.

i saw this written in sharpie on a sign at cady way park:
“freshen up yo day nukkah”
-the doom kid territory

does anybody speak german?
what does this mean?

i've been going out to barbecue bar and ibar lately. i'm not really sure why i feel like being social lately but i've been doing it once a week or so.
sampoerna clove cigarettes are no longer imported to the usa. so my preferred cigarettes and my second choice of cigarettes are no lot going to be available in this country soon. so i've been buying cartons of the A mild menthols.
i read a book recently. a collection of essays and short stories by s.j. perelman. he was a pretty funny dude. he wrote for some marx brothers movies. it was the first book i have finished in a couple of years.
i started reading 'youth in revolt' also. so far, it's pretty ridiculous. it's supposed to be a fourteen year old kid's journal but it is (obviously) written by a thirty+ year old harvard graduate. the vocabulary and language in it is so obviously that of a thirty+ year old man and not a fourteen year old boy. but he does talk about erections masturbation a lot. it's pretty lame and i'll be surprised if i finish it.
brian's gigadelay pedal is freaking incredible and we have been making some seriously sick sounds on it. i'm not sure how useful the sounds will be but they're great.
also, soon i will be the proud owner of one of these:

i'm going to make it work for me and make it awesome.
i've been riding my bike to downtown every time i go downtown. it's about eight miles. the ride there is not very much fun and i almost got run over by a hummer on orange avenue the other day. but, the ride home is pretty much incredible. the weather has been so awesome at night lately. and i rode from the corner of bennett and corrine all the way home with no hands. it's about 3.9 miles. it was pretty radical and i want to set a world record now. i'm not sure what the world record is but i want to beat it. and then do this:

i've been two hours late for work two tuesdays in a row and they don't really seem to care. i suppose it's because most of the people i work with call in or don't show up at least once a week each.

"there are a lot of assholes, but you will never meet an asshole like me" - trevor

welcome to the party!

i'm feeling much better now.
i had a really good day on monday. i woke up at eleven and rode my bike to the library on 50 (near fashion square mall), then to colonial photo and hobby to get some polaroid 669 film, then to the downtown library where i got duck soup, bananas, and the general on vhs and a biography of douglas adams, then to stardust for coffee and water, and then back home. it took me almost three hours but it was a really nice ride and it was a pretty day. when i got home, i made this with the 669 film:

it was my first attempt and since that, all attempts have been unsuccessful.
i hung around the house the rest of the day and watched some movies and ate at patsio's with sara.
i went to bed around one and woke up at four forty five for work. i worked from six to six and it wasn't a bad day at work. it was super busy in the lab. i did fifty six orders in the time i was there. when i got home, i was planning on working with brian on music but he was too frustrated with me and the song to work. we talked for two hours or so about life and music. i tried to explain to him why i've been losing my marbles and i tried to explain to him that i think i've found some of them.
i'm still not sure i understand why what happened a month ago happened, but i'm getting to the point that i can accept it and not flip out anymore. and stop coming up with asinine ideas to try to undo what was done. sometimes things just don't work, and that's cool. it was just so super awesome and too super short.
then we had a two hour house meeting. i don't think anyone likes house meetings but everybody thinks they are necessary. and not much good ever seems to come of them. maybe things will change this time...
so anyway, i'm feeling much better now. and i've been up for twenty five hours so i'm going to go to bed now. goodnight internet

tour was sort of radical. a lot of the shows were a little disappointing. but hanging out with darren, jim, javid, and chris for two weeks was awesome. plus all of the nice people we got to meet and stay with. except the couple of times we slept in the car.
gainesville - 1982 is the old common grounds. they have an awesome ms. pac man machine that's really glitchy and i got high score.
miami - churchills was in a scary part of town where your car might get broken into if you don't pay a homeless person to watch it. the sound system was awesome. and they had a ms. pac man machine. i got the high score. we stayed with a nice dude that we played with and his insane roommate woke us up in the morning screaming about a dead goldfish. we went to hollywood beach in the morning. there was an inane amount of canadian people there.
west palm beach - respectable street was a respectable place. there was no ms. pac man. everything there just looked like winter park. except the homeless guy i spent about twenty minutes talking to. he was pretty funny.
jacksonville - tsi. we played at tsi before, with zom zoms. it was way better this time. i guess maybe everyone who was there last time told two friends. or maybe it was just a better night. there were a lot of people that seemed pretty stoked about us playing. it was lots of fun. except waiting for three hours after we played for everyone to hang out and get their drinks on and ruin our plans for who we were going to stay with. we ended up staying in a house like the one in the young ones. darren went blind during TSITR's set. also no ms. pac man.
pensacola - sluggo's was an awesome place with ms. pac man, pinball, vegan food, and root beer on tap! the town of pensacola seems super boring but this place we played was awesome. chris found a crack pipe near the venue. we stayed with matt, the guy we played with. he was super nice and his friend bonnie bought everyone food in the morning. we watched saved by the bell on dvd and ate lots of food.
birmingham - cave 9. we were an hour and a half late to the venue. the venue was pretty radical though. the first band started when we got there. they were a rock band with no bassist. the second dude was a noise dude who was pretty good. we left for atlanta after the show.
athens - tasty world was a cool looking place. somehow, we got on a show with peelander-z. we played first. i found a few cool places with records. i don't think anyone was there when we played. it sounded like shit. i remember that. an allegedly racist band called chop top played after us. javid from saddle creek was trying to convince everyone at the bar that he had torret's syndrome and i think he succeeded and almost got in a few fights. peelander-z is one of the worst bands i've ever heard. jim compared it to bill and ted's excellent adventure. i concurred. but peelander pink was cute. we stayed with a really nice friend of darren named jordan. we stayed up all night listening to javid talk nonsense in his drunken state. i found my new favorite record at a vintage store in the morning. the suburban lawns. it is a fukcing shredder.
augusta - sector 7G was a cool diy venue with a super sweet sound system. we played with an angle. i'm not sure how that happened. i went to the car and slept after we played because i felt like shit. we stayed with some really nice people who gave me pizza and airborne and lemonade. we watched die hard.
myrtle beach - the social looked like it would sound incredible. but i think the sound guy was probably the most incompetent sound guy i've ever dealt with. the city itself looked like it's a pretty happening beach town like daytona. except that there was absolutely nobody in the town and half of the stuff was closed. but the gay dolphin was open. scott smallin and about ten other people were at the show. it sounded so godawful that we decided after about five songs that we were going to cut it short and just quit. the sound person was a total douchis nimbus. TSITR took forty five minutes to set up. they were messing with the sound guy. we ate at omega pancake house with scott after the show. there are so many pancake houses and miniature golf places in myrtle beach, it's ridiculous. we all stayed with scott. he is one of the most awesome dudes ever. he's super nice and a super good photographer. scott, brian, jim, and i stayed up till almost four talking about all sorts of stuff. scott made us spaghetti in the morning. he bought soda for us, too. and we watched revenge of the nerds.
mt. pleasant - the village tavern. darren booked this venue on this day (thursday) because they have a good deal on chicken wings. they have other food, too. brian and i got quesadillas. we had to get to the venue early so darren could get the wings. we got there at five thirty. the show started at almost eleven. luckilly, they had a multicade machine with pacman, ms. pacman, pacman jr., donkey kong, donkey kong jr., frogger. so i spent lots of money trying to get the high score on ms. pacman. but the joystick was a little messed up. you really had to jam it around to make it work right. we played and there were some people there. it soudned really good. we got free soda all night, free food, and a good amount of money from the door. brian threw my broken keyboard stand on the roof there. jim duct taped it, but it fell over with my korg on it. so brian threw it on the roof. we stayed with scott again. scott and javid made burritos in the morning. we watched high school usa before leaving.
wilmington, NC - the soapbox was awesome. ms. pacman coctail, free internet for bands, lotr pinball and nice people. i wasn't having a very good night. i was just sort of depressed and pretty anxious for part of the night. just about my stupid self. i think the show went pretty well. we played well, i know that. and until the sound cut out for five minutes after we blew up the pa, it sounded good. after that it was a little quiet. we left at two thirty and drove straight home. we got home at eleven thirty, not nine thirty.
tour quotes:
"he hit me so hard i farted. and i snotted" - some guy who just got out of jail
"right now i'm on operation: load up the pussy" - some guy we were going to stay with in jacksonville, but didn't because he was on operation: load up the pussy
"vaginaise" - scott smallin

awesome today:
the suburban lawns record
not very awesome today:
crying while watching harold and maude
spending a whole day at home by myself
i still miss andrea
i'm being a fucking idiot
i smoked two packs of cigarettes yesterday
the fact that my not awesome list is longer than my awesome list

a couple of things in life suck right now:
creeper sutherland hasn't come home for days.
i smoke way too much.
we played with a band tonight that started their set by saying "god hates fags" and they were serious.
we played with a band last night that had way too much nice gear. i wanted to kill them and take it.
we've made 25 dollars total on our last two shows and spent 22 dollars on gas and tolls.
i think i'm going out of my head.
i can never say things i think i really ought to.
when i try i just squirm and twitch and stumble and stutter through what sounds perfect in my head but probably sounds more like a complete idiot or a small child trying to explain something he doesn't really understand himself.
i miss andrea.

a couple of other things in life are awesome:
andrea.
brian.
brian.
the show is the rainbow/yip-yip tour time.
driving.
smoking.
vault.

i really should go to bed. it's six thirty.

FUCK!
i can't sleep. i'm having bad a anxiety thing right now. i want to start a thrash band. i want to have an avenue other than livejournal to try to get this shit out of my head. well, i don't. not right now.
here's what my head feels like right now:

i feel like i must be crazy. i mean there's got to be something wrong with me. it can't possibly be everyone else. sometimes i think that the only person who will ever understand me and want to be around me and fully appreciate me is brian. he's the only person who's been able to be around me for longer than a couple of years. i'm really not sure why because he thinks i'm an asshole or an idiot about forty percent of the time. and he's probably right thinking i'm an asshole and he's definitely right about me being an idiot. and my mom is pretty understanding. i mean she thinks i'm crazy but she listens to me and puts up with me. but she's also my mom, so she's sort of obligated. anyway, i feel like i'm really losing it right now but i'm still pretty happy about most things in my life. there's just this one problem right now. but i'm sure i'll feel better tomorrow if i can get to sleep and be up in three hours for work. we're meeting up with darren tomorrow evening in lakeland. that ought to be awesome. i'm going to try to have fun on tour without regard to what happened this evening. i should probably go to sleep but i can't. i can't stop moving. FUCK!

awesome things:
punk mixtape i made
sub woofer
sampoerna A mild menthols

"you're not happy unless you're fucking miserable" - my mom, patricia temple

hello internet,
there's this cat who came to the party on friday. he's siamese and really cute. he's a total spazz. anyway, this cat has been hanging out at our house and coming into our house every day. several times every day. i've been calling him creeper sutherland and i think that's going to be his name if he stays here. creeper is probably the best cat i've ever known. i think he's totally awesome. unfortunately, i think a couple of the roommates hate him because he probably has fleas and might have some other diseases. i'd probably take him to a veterinarian if i had car and money to spend on a veterinarian.
our internet has been pretty crummy lately. it stops working every day for several hours. the cable guy came on friday and thought he fixed it, but sunday, it did the same thing with the cable light blinking on the modem. so i called again and a different technician came on tuesday. it was working on tuesday when the guy came so he basically shrugged his shoulders and said that it was working so he couldn't fix it. i mean he literally did shrug his shoulders and told me to just call tech support next time this happens and they will help me fix it.
i've been sleeping with creeper and the giant banana for the last couple of days and it's really not helping. the banana is just leaking all over my bed and the cat keeps waking me up with his tongue.
the devo book i'm reading is good.
i downloaded about a hundred empeethrees from postpunkjunk.com. i deleted about half of them, but the ones i kept are pretty fucking incredible. especially suburban lawns and stickmen.
i've spent a lot of time hanging out in the garage by myself or with sara smoking cigarettes and moping or talking. i was doing pretty alright with the not smoking thing for a while, but friday, i bought a pack of cigarettes after 7pm and smoked them all before i went to bed. saturday, too. i've noticed that quitting smoking sounds easy when you're smoking a cigarette.
andrew mcneill came into walgreens the other day. tuesday. i haven't talked to him in a while, so it was really nice to
see him. that guy is a ruler.
brian and i are leaving on tuesday or wednesday, i think until the middle of march. i'm pretty excited about it. we're going to see places we haven't seen. some new tacks will be put in the map: miami, west palm beach, pensacola, birmingham AL, athens GA, augusta GA, myrtle beach SC, mount pleasant SC, wilmington NC, hot springs AR. also, we're playing with peelander-z and probably some other good bands but i'm not sure. oh yeah and we'll probably get to hang out with scott smallin in myrtle beach. that dude's pretty awesome and super nice. he's also the dude who drove us across manhattan to get the car back when it got towed. he's also the dude who took the pictures that are going to be on the back of 'in the reptile house'.
it's going to be our longest time away from home and work and other stuff and people in orlando that i like since the summer and honestly i'm a little nervous about what might happen. i don't know. i'm probably just being an idiot. i've been doing that a lot this week. being an idiot.
i really don't have anything else to talk about. i wish i did because i'm fucking bored and i'm really not tired at all.

here's a good quote from the archive:
"jason...it's a fine line between sane and crazy and you're straddling the mo' fucker" - Larnie White

these things are awesome today:
andrea
brian
stickmen
coffee
wacky wednesday

here's a multiplicity inspired picture for brian. i made it years ago but brian has been talking about multiplicity lately and making an album cover that's like multiplicity:

T'ing C of their own B

that party was pretty tame compared to what i thought it would be. nobody died or got hurt, the police never came and everyone seemed to t c of their own b. the house isn't even all that messy but i hope somebody helps me clean. like my roommates or the girl who threw the party. the only real problem was this crazy siamese cat that kept coming in the house and wouldn't get out. i was like fred flintstone. it was a really nice and pretty cat and i would have kept it if i wanted a cat. i probably spent most of the party in my room. i took a nap from twelve something to two something and then made some things for someone special.
brian locked himself in his room thursday night. he couldn't get out for about five minutes. it was pretty funny.
whats yr damage played with eight or nine bands wednesday night. it was their last orlando show. it was pretty good. honestly, i've seen better wyd shows. i've seen worse wyd shows though. i suppose that's the nature of whats yr damage. dynasty was good too.
the candy dinner video is done by j. isaac. it's pretty insane and i'm pretty happy about it.
andrea and i went thrift store shopping the other day. she must be good luck because i found some pretty great stuff:
switched-on bacharach LP (incredible), chubby checker - it's pony time LP, lenny dee - dee most! LP (incredible cover art), and a motivational record called applied imagination, some sweet shoes and a sweater.
my last day of work at walgreens before my two and a half weeks off is next friday. it's going to be awesome hanging out with darren again and touring again.
here are some awesome things today:
brian is awesome.
andrea is awesome.
athletico spizz 80 is awesome.
pineapple and pea pizza is awesome.
tarkus is awesome.
candy dinner video is awesome.
there are many more awesome things today. these are just the most awesome.

"no large girls in cream" - anonymous
"i hope that's not shit" - b. esser

this picture pretty much sums up how i feel right now with life:

i'm stinking tired i'm going to go sleep with the giant banana and pretend it's someone else.
brian's going to kill me for saying that.

hello internet.
life is still good. 2k6 is going to be a good year for me and not just because i have a girlfriend who's awesome. yip-yip is awesome. we have some new stuff in the works and although we are both getting pretty frustrated with this new song, i have faith that when it's done, it's going to be pretty sick and different. we are doing some nice and easy touring for the first part of the year and hopefully something more intense later on.
brian is probably the best person i've ever known on earth. almost every day i wish i could be more like him. i like me, but he's got a lot of goodness that i don't have. my friendship with brian is definetly the longest relationship i've ever had with anyone ever. and i think our friendship could last for the rest of my life if i'm smart.
i watched willard last night with andrea and trevs. it was pretty fucking incredible. about six months ago, i decided i wanted to see every crispin glover movie. after watching several in a month, i realized that he's almost always playing the same character. or maybe he's never actually playing a character. yeah, he's probably really that spazzy and creepy. anyway, i sort of wore out my crispin glover appetite a few months ago but willard got me excited again. i still want to see every movie of his except probably "what is it?". i'm just going to have to space them out better. brian says that i am like crispin glover. or that i will one day be like crispin glover. i don't think so but i guess i'm sort of spazzy and creepy.
the candy dinner video by isaac is going to be sickening. it's going to be on the album which will be out in june now. or maybe july. it's going to be pretty awesome. so anyway life is awesome. two k xix is awesome. andrea is awesome. i'm super happy dead meat. i'm starting to believe that she actually likes me. it's really weird but she seems happy and i'm happy and she pretty much summed it up nicely here: "we are both roadkill".

brian said these funny things about jerking off this week:
"hell no, a good jerker never gets caught" - b. esser
"jerking off is totally natural and organic" - b. esser

i haven't smoked a cigarette in over twenty four hours. i guess that's not very amazing, but it's a start. i feel pretty good about it. but i guess i try to quit smoking about once per year. it usually lasts a couple of months and then i have a bad day and buy some cigarettes and it all starts again. if i can just make sure not to have any bad days this year, i'll be okay. so far it looks like that might be possible.

i set a new personal best time for getting to work today. twenty one minutes. i seem to get to work a lot faster when i'm happy. and i was super happy this afternoon. i guess it sort of spilled over from last night into this afternoon. last night was pretty awesome. i gave myself a horrible haircut. jen and i rented seven movies for seven dollars. college park video rules. jen went out. i cleaned and listened to records and drank by myself. i think that's the only way i like to drink. or maybe with one other person. and watched half of three of the movies from college park video. none of the three were that interesting. then andrea came over at 3 and my night got amazing. i'm dead meat...really happy dead meat. i don't really feel like writing anymore. here are some other things:

"retards are strong as hell, man" - Jenny J Haines
"it saves you from having to buy rope when you want to hang yourself" - this kid clifford i work with when i was thinking aloud about neckties and how silly they are.

hello internnet. i'm so tired right now. i haven't been sleeping well at night. i've just been too excited to fall asleep at night lately. and then i've been taking naps for the last couple of days.
i really don't like naps. it seems like i should be doing something semi-productive.
my new job of bitch-boy at work is sort of okay. today i hardly did anything all day there. basically, i just have to move stuff around on the shelves and help out whomever needs help. also, i have to work at six on tuesdays and fridays putting away the stuff we get on the truck. so i have to get up at five and ride to work in the dark those days. i'm starting to wish it gets warm soon.
boredoms dysfunctional monster jam is awesome. also ween's stalion parts 1-5 are pretty awesome.
tour with zom zoms was super-awesome. i like touring and getting to sleep in my own bed half of the time. i miss those dudes. i miss loaded questions.
i got a strange text message from a girl named claudia on saturday. it just says:
"WISH I COULD QUIT YOU
-claudia"
i found out today that it's one of the people we stayed with in atlanta. i found out yesterday that it is a misquoted quote from brokeback mountain. i haven't seen the movie, but i saw the trailer yesterday. i'm really not sure if it's a joke. if it is, it's pretty funny. if it's not, it's pretty weird because i really didn't even talk to that girl at all. i didn't really talk to any of them except that boy who looks just like me. my doppleganger. he was nice. i gave him my e-mail address and phone number. i guess that's probably how she got my phone number. weird.
life is pretty awesome right now. everything is going really awesome with pretty much everything.
there's this old lady i work with named sara(h?) and i'm pretty sure she hates me now. she doesn't talk to me anymore. she hasn't even said hello to me since i've been back from tour.
also, i saw one of these today on my way home from work:

and i thought it was pretty awesome. and i'm pretty sure if i had an extra $30,000 i'd probably buy one.
i walked home from work today. i was really excited about it when i left. i just wanted to walk for some reason. it was pretty nice for the first hour. first i saw that vixen 21. then i saw jeff dye. he was playing golf. he was one of my favorite customers at eckerd. he gave me a pentax super ME slr camera and about $500 worth of lenses when i worked there. he's this awesome older surf dude. i stopped at starbucks and got a latte and the paper and did the crossword puzzle, drank coffe, smoked and watched the clouds for a little while. it was nice, but when i left there, i was pretty tired and i started to ache all over. the second hour of the walking was pretty painful. but it was nice to have a walk and it was a nice day/night. it took me two hours and forty five minutes to get home because i went the long way and i stopped for almost an hour. i ate spaghetti and fell asleep on the couch as soon as i got home. i did that yesterday, too.
i found my burned copies of hardcore devo volumes one and two and i have been listening to them the last couple of days. they are pretty sick. there are some incredible songs though. my favorites are: midget, mechanical man, i'm a potato, soo bawls, and the rope song. yeah.
i'm going back to bed now as i have to get up at five tomorrow.

i've been downloading a lot of audio books lately. douglas adams, mostly, and some terry pratchett. and i've been listening to so much of negativland. brian absolutely hates it. i can't even really explain why i like it so much. it's just one of those things. i'm really happy right now. i'm off work for two weeks, i'm hanging out with good friends and good other people or person. i'm playing music and not losing money. there's other stuff that's not so great right now, but i'm usually pretty able to focus on the good things...i guess. it's nice to have a job that i can leave for two weeks and still have said job when i get back. then leave again for two weeks next month and still have a job when i come back. and then maybe leave again in april for a few weeks and hopefully still have a job when i get back. brian started talking in his sleep today in the car. he just kept saying 'ten tits....ten..tits'. then he just started mumbling something incoherent. i thought it was pretty funny. i'm going to go get some sleep before i start talking nonsense, too.

holy cow. i haven't posted on my livejournal in over a 17 months. there was just so much going on. every time i thought about updating, there was just too much to write. i forgot my password and it's taken me five minutes to decide whether to go forward or backward. this is going to be very difficult, but i'm going to try to get everything and it's going to take me forever. and i'm going to start at august 2004. luckilly, i have kept my photos up to date on my computer...with dates. so that should help me.

AUGUST 2004
03 - we must have left orlando on the third to get to bowling green, ohio for our first show with zom zoms at howard's club h. that was on the forth. i don't remember the drive. i remember i drove more than brian. we rented a chevy impala.

04 - we saw amish people at shoney's around eight am. i think we slept on the highway breakdown lane.

here is a picture of our first marquee ever from that show. i don't have any other pictures from this show. we played with a band called stylex. they were really fun and dancy and bassy. we got to bowling green early. around five pm. we ate pizza at pisanello's. i don't remember if it was good or not. well it was pizza, so i guess it was at least decent. there was also a health food store across the street from the venue. i don't remember the name of it but i remember i needed chap stick and they had something called vegan hemp balm "a hip trip for lips". the girl working there was helpful and i bought it and liked it a lot. we stayed a kid's parents' house. he was really nice and i don't remember his name. this was the first time brian and i ever shared a twin-sized mattress. it was not very comfortable and he said i tried to spoon him in his sleep. i don't believe him. we left early because we had to be in new york that day.

05 - we woke up, showered and left for nyc. brian realized he left his blanket at the kid's house, so we had to turn back. also, we stopped at a salvation army where brian got a disgusting ceramic clown face. we also got some l ron hubbard books. we were hoping to get some song names from them. we played a show at the boogaloo bar in brooklyn. i didn't like the place that much. it was like peacock room, sort of, but under ground. we played with denim and diamonds. they were fun and nice. also one of the guys from blonde redhead was at our show. we stayed with (not)keren in the city somewhere. she had a nice apartment. i forgot to bring a blanket, so i was cold all night. they asked us to play the next night at boogaloo bar again.

06 - we were supposed to have a day off, but we were added to a show at boogaloo bar, which seemed to cause problems with people booking too many bands. but that was after we got a parking ticket and walked around the city for a day. we saw the dear rain drop gallery in soho, i think. it was incredible:

we also had pizza at two boots, which was awesome. we played and i think we stayed with a friend of zom zoms.

07 - we had the best pizza of tour at 5th avenue pizza in new york. we got italian ice, too. then we left for hampton, VA. we got there late. it was dark. we pulled up to this weird downtown area of a smallish town. there was a comic book store, which brian and i thought was pretty cool. even cooler was the fact that we were playing in a residence above said comic store called 'rat ward'. tons of bands played. i don't remember most of them. i remember art lord and the self-portraits, bunny brains and that's all really. but there were tons of bands and it was a lot of fun and people seemed to be into us. and the girl who lived there was super-nice. it was also one of our scariest shows ever. someone spraypainted a picture of us on the wall on the roof. you could access a lower roof from the windows. at some point in the night, someone flew in through a window screaming and bloody. there was apparently a fight. the bloody guy left and things got calm for a while, until he showed up about a half hour later with a machete. that's when we decided to leave. but again, we were on our way, at least a half hour had gone by and brian realized he left his video camera. so, we went back to get it and zom zoms waited for us.

08 - my parents moved to north carolina on the fourth of august, right near where we were playing that night so we went there from hampton. we got there in the morning, around eight and all went to sleep, i think. we played in chapel hill, i think. at a place called nightlight. the people there were nice and seemed to be into us. there was an open-mic thing before our show and patrick from zom zoms did some incredible songs about being weird and george bush taxing the shit out of you and volcanos. he played a record nine songs in under three minutes. then we had the show and went back to my parents house where my mom was waiting up for us with pasta.

09 - my little sister, olivia, really liked patrick. patrick gave her a telephone company cd which she loves. zom zoms went to do laundry while i hung out with my family for a while before going to nashville. we got in a collision in a parking lot of a hotel with a man named orlando. i was backing out and he hit us. i suppose technically, it's my fault. but he was going pretty fast for a parking lot. we played at caffiene coffee bar and cafe with moe raw. it was a weird show. we were all pretty bummed about the car. we stayed in that hotel. the one with the parking lot. we ordered pizza from michangelo's.

10 - we went to huntsville, alabama. i don't remember the drive or anything, but it was good, i think. we went bowling. we had fun and made fun names for ourselves. here are some examples: zots raddld, ladwire xtreme, crime scene, bitch boy. we went to a grocery store where chad turned me on to silk brand coffee flavored soy milk. flying monkey arts was a really nice space. i was very surprised at the turn out. who knew there would be so many weird kids in huntsville. we played with a band called alabama jihad. they were probably my favorite band of tour. sort of like le shok, i think. punky with keyboards and maybe some sass. i was scared at first because there were so many people. but it was fun and we met some really nice people.

11 - when we got back to orlando, we were informed by our new roommates (as of august 1st) jen, andy, keri, and jimmy. that there was a hurricane headed right for us. his name was charley and he was nasty. we smoked pot and played scattergories. some friends came over. here are some pictures:

12-25 - i'm not sure what happened here. i did part of a puzzle with jen. i know that. i probably worked a lot. i started smoking again. i hung out with a girl from work again.

26 - i've seen nicole around a lot for several years. i met here in 1998 or 1999 at a discount show. she was at ibar and it was her birthday and she asked me to dance with her. i did. she gave me her phone number and said there was a party that i should go to the next night.

27 - i went to the party. there was a bunch of creeps. i was super nervous. i smoked pot again. i talked to nicole a lot. then i went home.

29 - i went rollerskating with nicole. i suppose this was our first date. it was fun. i like to rollerskate.

SEPTEMBER 2004
wow, i really don't remember much of september. i made a crazy strobe light out of disposable cameras i took from work. you can set them up in a row so they go in sequence. if you put them in a ring, they will go forever. also, at some point around here, SAF records asked us to do a 7".

also, this was the start of the several months that i didn't go a day without seeing nicole and went several days without seeing brian. i don't think i hung out with brian for at least a month when nicole and i started dating. i was trying to make 2004 a girl-free year, but that didn't work.

this was also the month nicole introduced me to the band of the name who quickly became my favorite local and and one of my top bands ever.

06 - another hurricane, francis. buxton. nicole and i had spaghetti dinner and listened to stereolab. all of my roommates left the state. we set up a tent in the living room. the power went out eventually

30 - we played with IQU. they were pretty awesome.

OCTOBER 2004
? - we played at a highschool homecoming dance thanks to our friend max.
14 - nicole took me to de leon springs because there's a restaraunt there where you make your own pancakes. there's a griddle in every table. it was pretty neat.
20something - i made my first jack-o-lantern ever:

31 - i think this was the day of my favorite yip-yip show up to this point and one of my top five ever. it was at a house near UCF and it was incredible. there were tons of kids there and a parade and it made me really happy to be from orlando. the kids went all out and made the house look incredible.
this was also the month i decided that i was in love with nicole, read the entire hitchhiker's guide series, and payed $222.81 to get my korg fixed in tampa at pro audio.
i had read the first three books years ago. they were and still are incredible. around book five, i think i started to dislike it. he (douglas adams) used the word fuck at least twice and the main character falls in love...blah.

NOVEMBER 2004
? - third annual brian v jason banana eating contest:

i won. 18-15
i don't remember anything else in november.

DECEMBER 2004
i don't remember much this month either. this month nicole broke up with me for the first and certainly not the last time. this was also when my license got suspended because i hadn't payed my insurance in a while. this was also the month i got my license back and got insurance. nicole and i went to st. augustine in this month. it was nice i took some pictures on slide film:

on the way home, paul reubens was being interviewed on fresh air. it was a good interview, but the reception in my car was bad because we were apparently traveling away from the station.
my parents moved back to florida around this time, too. so i got to see them and simon and olivia more.

JANUARY 2005
i think this is the month when tyler moved in to our house and then tyler, andi, and keri moved out. then travis and derik moved in. derik is the messiest bastard i've ever known.
dave plotkin tried to set the world record by deejaying for 110 hours. he did it. it was a lot of fun and he had bands play in the studio, including yip-yip and probably every local band that existed in january 2005.
16 - i went to the central florida zoological park with olivia and nicole. it was pretty disapointing for nine dollars. the elephants were pretty okay.
? - we played with an albatross in florida. here's a picture:

before the orlando show, i ate at garden cafe with an albatross and company. we met a man in the parking lot who sang us some songs about going to the other side. he was pretty soulful.
it was very cold in tallahassee. i hate tallahassee. we've been there twice now and it just isn't all that great.
it was in this month that eckerd, the company i worked for, was bought by cvs, one of it's competitors. my position was pretty much eliminated and i was promised raises and i never got them. i was offered a different position called 'shift b', which is a management position, but was later told i couldn't get that position because i had too many 'rough edges'. cvs can go suck eggs. well they will do that on may 6.

FEBRUARY 2005
14 - i went to the beach with nicole. it was pretty nice even though the actual beach wasn't there. all of the hurricanes washed it away. but we had some fun and saw some neat stuff and flew kites.
i don't really like valentines day. i actually don't really like holidays at all. i feel that there are plenty of days in a year to show someone you care about him or her and you should not be told exactly when you should be extra nice. i'd much rather be nice when i'm inspired to be nice and not because it's some holiday or birthday. if someone is special to you, there are 365 perfectly good days in a year to be nice to him or her. but i guess that's crummy.

MARCH 2005
my car, which wasn't that great of a car anyway, died. i started riding my bike a lot and decided i didn't really need a car anyway. so it sat in my driveway for several months, dead. i think it was just the starter, which is only around eighty dollars to fix, but it never seemed that important.
19 - nicole broke up with me for the third time. this was about the time when i realized that i was being pretty crappy to brian. i hadn't seen him much since nicole and i started dating. so i decided to start spending more time with him. then she would get upset with me. so it was pretty apparent that as long as i was in a relationship with nicole, someone would always be upset with me. either she or brian would feel like i wasn't spending enough time with her or him or whatever. whatever

APRIL 2005
?

MAY 2005
this is where i can start to remember some things. this is when our album came out on saf records. this is when we toured with zom zoms again. we tried to grow mustaches and eat pizza every day.
06 - my last day of work for cvs. no more free photos. bah.
13 - said goodbye to nicole and went to the show with lightning bolt and bug-sized mind at the ark in gainesville. (thanks to myke on byke) it was awesome. we had to be in houston the next night. it was a 14 hour drive, so we left after the show. we had 5-star pizza. we drove through the early morning and got to houston in the afternoon. there were some weird foggy swampy parts.
14 - we stopped at some thrift stores, i got some good records. les baxter, something in hebrew. we met up with a friend of zom zoms named jeff. he was very nice and he let us shower at his house. we walked to get pizza at bambolino's. the show was good. we got to play with glass candy at the proletariat. we met eric from kork agency. we met some other nice people. i think we went to austin this night.
15 - austin texas is one of my top five favorite cities that i've been to. slices and ices is one of the best names for a pizza restaraunt ever. we spent the day hanging out with zom zoms and record shopping and doing fun things. this was the day we played at emo's with zom zoms and mission giant. dawn (or day) of the dead was playing there. the one with crazy jock-type military guys and dr. frankenstein. it was pretty greusome.
16 - i think this was the day we ate at rounders pizza. hung out with zom zoms and ate at frank and angie's pizza. we watched an incredible movie called high school usa starring michael j. fox and crispin glover. see this movie.
17 - we went back to houston for another show. this one was at a place called super-happy funland. houston is one of my five least favorite cities ever. comparable to atlanta, which i also hate. the super-happy fun land was a weird hippie house place and we played with a guy called voluptuous tusk. it was incerdibl(y bad)e. we ate pizza at late night pies and went back to austin.
18 - we drove all day to patrick's parents' house in el paso. i drove the whole way. we played a last-minute show at a metal bar. i don't remember the name of the place. it was weird.
19 - drove to tuscon. i got to see things i had never seen before. cacti, desert mountains, mexico, etc. we stopped at pizza king in lordsburg, new mexico for pizza. it may be the worst pizza i've ever had (excluding pizza hut). we had a show at a sweet hotel called hotel congress. there was a dance club under the hotel. here are some photos:

the hotel room was really nice and it wasn't the haunted one. and we got a discount. we ate at brooklyn pizza co. and did some thrif shopping. i found yes's fragile lp and some new aqua socks. our set was cut five songs into it because the entire sound system was getting these crazy surges from our bad cables. so bad that the sound guy cut us short. we were bummed.
20 - we went to explore tuscon a little bit. there was a music store called the chicago shit hole or something like that. chad found a synare. they had tons of stuff there and it was pretty unorganized. there was also this crazy hippie guy who was talking to us about playing the guitar with his mind. then we left for la. we hit a truck tire in the desert of arizona. it didn't appear to have much effect at first. but then a few miles down the road, the car started vibrating pretty violently. then there was a funny sound and our right rear tire shredded. the tread ripped right off. it was pretty bizarre because the tire was still full of air. we stopped and changed the tire in the desert. it was pretty hot. so we proceeded to a tire store fifty miles north of us on the way to la. we made it right before they closed. they changed the tire, charged us 112 dollars and we were on our way again. we saw some dinosaurs and windmills. we got to the smell in la pretty late. walking in the neon was a lot of fun and david microwave headlined. we got to play our whole set, we got new cables. i hated la for the six or eight hours we were there. we all wanted to get out of there, so we went to lodi where chad's mother lives. like that ccr song. we ran over a skunk on the way out of la.
21 - we got to chad's mother's house in the morning and went to sleep. she had dogs so brian was in heaven. we had a show at a weird place in the middle of california. it was a party for kdvs. it was either in woodland or davis, i'm not sure. they had pizza there though from a place called woodstock. the show was pretty good. people seemed to like it. some other good bands played. death sentence panda, no doctors, hawk and a hacksaw. everyone was pretty tired before burmese and sightings played, so we went back to lodi.
22 - we had a show in san francisco. we left lodi pretty early, so we could explore a little. i saw the pacific ocean. we ate some pizza at a place called napoli. we played at a gay bar called kimo's. not a great turnout but we met matt from saf records. he drove from aptos to see us. he was really nice. we went back to lodi to sleep
23 - we drove a very long way to eugene, oregon. we were to play at a place called tiny tavern. they had no sound system and i don't think anyone knew we were playing, so we bailed. we went across the street to a place called sam bond's. it was a bar. chad and patrick wanted to play a show, so they played at sam bond's open mike. the improved some songs about basketball. they had some organic pizza at the bar that ruled. and there was a cake there. it was sheer coincidence that it was travis's birthday. we decided to start driving again toward walla walla, washington.
24 - we arrived in walla walla very early in the morning and slept at the house of zom zoms's friend bobcat. we didn't do much that day after waking up. brian and i ate some horrible pizza at a place called figaros. it was one of those take and bake places. but they can bake it there by the slice. it was slightly not worse than the lordsburg pizza experience. we played at the underground to a handful of people. everyone who was there was really nice and the building we played/stayed in was a really cool space. it was a bookstore, all ages show space, dance studio, and there was a flat upstairs. there were a bunch of people there partying and listening to elliot smith and i just wanted to go to sleep. there was this girl there that wouldn't stop talking about what a genius elliot smith was. when we were all trying to sleep on the floor, this girl was having sex on the couch with some dude. i couldn't sleep and later found out brian was awake, too. travis woke up to two naked people on the couch. they were gone by the time i got up. we left for vancouver.
25 - we drove toward the canadian border. zom zoms's car blew up on the highway near a town called ellensburg. we all stopped because chad's radiator was leaking bad and he blew his head gasket. i found a shotgun shell on the side of the highway. zom zoms waited for a tow into town and yip-yip proceeded to canada. we were told to go check in with immigration. border people were ridiculous. we were attacked with a barrage of questions. how do you two know each other? what's your band's name? why are you coming all the way to canada to record an album? why do you have that tattoo on your arm? we had a fake recording contract from a fake studio, so we could get in (or so we thought). they checked our website and found out we had a show at the lamplighter in vancouver. they told us to take a seat. about an hour or two later, zom zoms came to the checkpoint with the same fake recording contract, wearing yip-yip t-shirts. we were all told to sit there and that we may be arrested and tried in the morning. anyway after three hours, we had our mug shots taken, were called pieces of shit and sent back to america. we each got a nice document stating that we are liars and are banned from canada for one year. we are probably red flagged for life. so, we stopped at the first exit and got a hotel room in skaget, wa. there was a strip club called cascade that sold pizza. it was good pizza. the hotel room was pretty nice, too. but the whole town smelled like manure.
26 - we drove to seattle to check it out. i didn't think it was that great. granted, i only spent a couple of hours there. then to tacoma for our show at the kickstand cafe. the show was pretty disapointing. the kid who booked it tried his best, but it was pretty bad. we stayed with the kid at his parents house. his dad was apparently an fbi agent, so he wasn't home. but they had a sweet studio in their house where we recorded about a half hour of music and called it 'euro boys'.
27 - we left for portland, i think. i think we stopped in olympia and ate at a place called old school pizza. i'm not sure this may have been a couple of days before. the pizza was good. we did some thrift shopping. portland was very cool. we played at the holocene with mahjongg. some friends from orlando were there. chris, nick, fran. we stayed with the punk group. we went to some crummy party. portland was really nice though.
28 - hung out in portland. we ate pizza at a place that might be called rovente...i can't read my own writing.
29 or 30 - we left for des moines, ia. i almost hit a deer. it was twenty-two hours, i think, from portland to des moines. at this point, brian and i are driving experts. the twenty-something hours didn't phase us. we stopped somewhere in oregon or washington at a place called spooky's in a place called the dalles. my shoes smelled so bad that i threw them out the window. it was the worst human smell i think i've ever smelled.
31 - we played at vaudeville mews with no things and there were no things or people there. i did manage to get a soil sample though. i wanted to see what the queers are doing with the aliens. something about landing strips for gay martians. i think we went to lincoln, ne that night to stay with darren.

JUNE 2005
01 - hung out in lincoln with darren, i think. oh yeah yia-yia's pizza. corn and potatoes on pizza? yes. we ate there three times in the couple of days we were there. it was freaking awesome. we did some record shopping and found some dill records. we had a show at duffy's tavern with the show is the rainbow. i got a strange text message from a strange number: I only kill to know i'm alive. i tried calling it but no answer. our show was a lot of fun and people were nice. actually one girl was so nice she wanted to know if we "would both fuck her". there was a pinball machine at duffy's.
02 - cancelled a show at cutthroat alley in sioux city, ia because someone is racist or sexist or homophobic or something. i'm not sure. so we hung out in lincoln and watched movies. we saw star wars episode one. i didn't like it.
03 - we also watched the wizard staring fred savage and some of buckaroo bonzai across the eighth dimension. the cover of that movie is better than the movie itself. it had jeff goldblum in it so i thought it would be good, but it's not. we played at the playground in des moines with the show is the rainbow and stolen kisses. it was a lot of fun and kids were having a lot of fun. this is why i love playing all ages shows. then we ate some incredible pizza with carrots and corn and white sauce. i think we left for kansas city, mo that night. we slept in the stuido of our friends jon and j. ashley.
04 - show at the grenada in lawrence, ks with ssion, ad aster per atera and minus story. ssion was pretty incredible. i felt like crap after the show so i slept in the car while everyone else went to another bar down the street to see glass candy play.
then we came back to florida. this is where i start to forget things again. i didn't have a job when we got back and i didn't get one because we were leaving again a month later. the local shows sort of made me enough money to pay bills.

JULY 2005
i was poor this month and if i didn't have a girlfriend this month i probalby would have starved to death.
brian and i left on the 27th for our first show with honeyhander on the 28th at redrum in providence, ri. another all day drive.
the place was crazy and i couldn't tell but it seemed like everyone there hated us. we did meed one of the guitarists from arab on radar at the show and he was really nice. we stayed with anthony from honeyhander and watched zoolander. i had never seen this movie and i'm so glad that i finally did.
29 - show in boston at jacques underground. it was the basement of a tranny bar. i hated boston. probably because i had to drive there and it's ridiculous. we got to meet the other guitarist of arab on radar because we played with athletic automaton. they were incredible. and incredibly nice. we stayed with some friends who were very nice and may have made us macaroni and cheese.
30 - show at cakeshop in nyc with the fugue. the place was really cool. pastry, records, club/bar downstairs. everyone there was really nice i'm not sure what we did that night. the fugue was incredible and borderline scary. we stayed with ben from the fugue. we hung out with him, his roommate, and conrad from the fugue until we were too tired. they are awesome dudes.
31 - went to philadelphia. we met up with our friend max, who moved to philadelphia from orlando for school. there were parts of philadelphia that were so scary i didn't really want to be there. we couldn't find the place we were supposed to play. but we hung out in the city with max and walked around and saw zipperhead and gum trees. the show was weird. ultra dolphins was really good. everything else was weird. everyone left after the show and there was a point in the night when i was alone in an alley outside this warehouse. brian was taking max home and everyone else left while he was gone. so with no place to say, we started heading toward new brunswick to door's house.

AUGUST 2005
01 - we got to new brunswick around four am and found a parking lot to sleep in. we went to the 35 plum street house where door lives. he wasn't home but his roommate let us in and we just sat around there for a while. door and a couple of other people played. and we played and people were having fun. house shows are awsome. it was in the basement, so the walls were oozing and sweating and it was tons of fun. we were introduced to the miracle of truck sandwiches. it's everything you could ever want on bread. the fat indian has: falafel, mozzarella sticks, french fries, lettuce, tomato and probably some more stuff. we slept in the sweaty attic.
02-03 - we went to brian's aunt and uncle's house in waldorf, md. we did a photo shoot with his uncle and the photos are pretty radical.
03 - we played at a gallery in richmond, va. we almost didn't get to play because we were late. it was a weird noise show but there was one person we knew from orlando there. we went back to waldorf to sleep.
04 - we were invited back to 35 plum street to play with athletic automaton, skaters, mouthus, double leopards and more bands. athletic automaton was awesome again and people were having a good time and the ceiling was sweating and the walls were oozing. that's how i know it's a good show...oozing walls.
05 - back to providence for the fancy fest.
06 - we played at the fancy fest with aids wolf, an albatross, mahi mahi and a shit-ton of other bands. it was fun, we met lots of nice people. etc. then we left for home...another day drive.
i don't remember much after that for august. i still didn't work, because we were leaving again in a month. i still didn't eat much. our new roommate, sarah moved into travis's room, travis moved back home and jimmy totally flaked on us and moved out in the middle of the night taking only his bong and matress. we found out he hadn't paid rent for two months and we owed our landlord 600 dollars because of him. bastard dog. we got a new roommate, trevor. jimmy eventually came and got most of his stuff and paid the six hundred dollars he owed. our yard started dying because we have an oil tank in the ground from an old oil-burning furnace. we had some guys from the department of enviromental protection come to our door and tell us that it is our responsibility and a job like this typically costs somewhere in the neighborhood of 330,000 dollars. but our landlord told us not to worry about it and that he'd take care of it. he did....eventually.
21 - we played a sweet sold-out show at the social with band marino, band of the name, and dodger.

SEPTEMBER 2005
04 - 5 days of live music on wprk. we played and it was tons of fun.
15 - another all day drive to nyc.
16 - show at the lit lounge for the cmj fest with genghis tron, honeyhander, aids wolf, dmonstrations, glitter pals, chromelodeon and more. it was tons of fun. zom zoms were there for their own cmj show. we ate at two boots again. brian's car got towed. scott smallin was nice and drove us to the car so we could pay $185 and get back to the lit lounge just in time for the show. and we got a $115 ticket on top of that...which is still unpaid. we stayed with a friend from orlando who was up for the fest. he let us stay in his hotel room. we argued and exercised for a while in the exercise room. we left for poughkeepsee.
17 - we played at vassar college. it was really nice and we got to hang out with aids wolf in our free hotel rooms. aids wolf is awesome and they are some solid dudes.
18 - 35 plum street show. i love love playing at door's house.
not much happened when we got back. nothing i can remember.

OCTOBER 2005
october wasn't very eventful. we played with the gossip, the usaisamonster, xbxrx, why, grand buffet, and buckethead. that's four shows, not one. we played two halloween shows. one in tarpon springs with some cool bands and one in orlando at a house. it was like the previous halloween show, but with more people and more parading. it was tons of fun. another top five show. thanks to isaac.

NOVEMBER 2005
i started working at walgreens at the beginning of november. i could have gone back to cvs and probably for more money, but i'm tired of cvs. it's five and a half miles from my house and i still don't have a car. i still don't think i need one. it takes me 24-30 minutes to get there on my bike and i think i could use the exercise. so if i work five days a week, which i do, i ride at least fifty five miles a week.
also at the beginning of november, nicole and i broke up. the relationship just wasn't really what either of us wanted and it was hard, but i think it's for the better for both of us. we said we'd be friends, but i'm pretty sure that never works. she stopped returning my phone calls, so i stopped making them.
so i've just been working a lot this month and brian and i have finished the new album and sent it to saf. i'm really happy with it.
we played at a public library in jacksonville. it was really wierd. good wierd, i think. there were several small children watching us and dancing. small like 5-8 years old. and one child sad to his mother. "i like them because they're playing all these different songs that connect like one big song". and other kids were drumming along on the couch. it was pretty awesome. i went to my parents' house for thanksgiving. i'm not big on holidays, but i didn't have to work and i hadn't seen my parents for months. i started growing a mustache at the end of november. it's pretty pathetic.

DECEMBER
december was a good month. jon kraft moved in. i am making money now. i don't like my job all that much. i was going to quit for the tour we have coming up with zom zoms, but when i went in the office to talk to my manager, he offered me a promotion. i told him i needed two weeks off and he said he's work it out. i told him i need another two weeks off in february/march and he said he'd work around it. so that's pretty cool. i'll still have a job when i get back from tour. that's really a good thing because i like peanut butter sandwiches, but not every day. we've played a few shows this month. some wierd shows. one at full sail, one at a birthday party for a girl in lake mary. i started a band, big bois, with a friend of mine from tampa. we played a show on the tenth, i think. it's josh on drums and me on noisy keyboards. i like it because i can use my circuit bent stuff and i can do all of the things that are not practical for yip-yip. and i can be harsh and loud. we played at austin coffee and film with what's yr damage. the more i see what's yr damage, the more i like them. they're awesome dudes. my last day of work before tour was on the twenty-ninth of december. i don't have to go back until the fourteenth of january. that's pretty exciting. that's probably also why i've spent the last five hours updating my livejournal. well that and other things. yip-yip and big bois played at the new years eve party what's yr damage had. and tons of other good bands. brian joined us for big bois this time. delay delay delay. it was fun and i think we played for the right amount of time. there were lots of nice people there, but after what's yr damge played, brian and i decided to leave. i didn't really want to see everyone trashed. i just wanted to come home and relax and spend a nice night listening to records by myself. so i was watching some footage on archive.org about computer music from 1983 and i didn't even realize that 2006 was here. i walked to albertson's and bought a six pack of woodchuck cider and a pack of cigarettes. i sat on the couch and listened to some sergio mendez and brasil 66 and bob and doug mckenzie and drank some cider. and then my phone rang at one thirty-eight. it was jen calling to see what i was doing. she was with her friend andrea, who's been over here a few times. she's super nice...andrea, not jen. anyway, she's been over here sometimes lately and i've been slowly developing this crush on her. so she said she was coming over with jen and wanted to stay up all night drinking and watching mutilated people on the discovery health channel. i said i would be down for that. so they came home and we watched some tv together and jen disappeared and we just watched tv together and i had four ciders, which is probably the amount of alcohol i typically drink in two months. i don't like being drunk. i don't understand it. i just like to be in control. i don't like having my inhibitions lowered. it's freaking scary. i wasn't even really wasted. i was just past tipsy. i was trying to make two thousand six a year of no chix, but i don't think i'm off to a very good start.

JANUARY 2006
i couldn't get out of bed today. i felt so tired and lazy all day, i pretty much laid around all day. i practiced the new set with brian a lot and it wasn't until about one am that i started feeling pretty good. i started writing this at 3:52 am. it's now 8:40 am. i don't expect anyone to read any of this, i just felt like it was time to update my internet life.

here are some funny words i've found:
delux brown hat
child dinosaur
animal faces
pro rabbit
comedy funnel
magic tube
mystery paddle
tubby tees
god's eyes
spider art

yip-yip is in the process of recording 'Pony UP', our future full-length cd. the sounds are good so far. i'm pretty pumped about it.

04.07.21 - Wednesday - i got another flat tire on the way home from somewhere. that was three in less than seven days. brian made me go to the mall with him. i hate the mall. we were there for forty-five minutes. Pewep in the Formats played at the social with Helio Sequence and Secret Machines. we got there as pewep was about to play. ashley was doing whale tails on stage and shaking his skulls. i knew the show was going to be weird, as the cd is weird, but i was not prepared for what happened. it was one incredible performance. it will be great. and it was great. helio sequence played next. i saw them with modest mouse in february, so i knew what to expect. i don't like it. so i went for a walk with maribel. at the corner of pine/orange, a horrible-looking human asked me if i wanted a trick. i said no thanks, but she asked a few more times. that was the first time i have been asked that. helio sequence was still playing when i got back. they played jay-z between bands, which i was really happy about. 99 problems rules. secret machines played last. i gave them about ten or fifteen minutes before i decided i didn't want to stick around for them. brian also decided and we met outside and got the heck out of there. then brian, maribel and i went to the hospital. brian and i did what we always do which, i guess, is pretty entertaining.

04.07.22 - Thursday - the daughters played at will's pube. the first band, circle and square, was a rock band. like jug-or-not. i feel bad for them because there is a band called circle takes the square. they probably didn't know this before naming their band that. they may have even had that name before circle takes the square. there's a band called the yips. the cougars played after them. they have a really good name. like the cougar who wrote this fine peice of poetry from which we got our album title:
the more the coguar see her the mor tehcougarr need her
them ore thecpoguar needz her the more the cougar want 2 pleze her
and squeeze her like the good cat should.

ponyup to muuy pongblong wammy! cause the cougars dick is as hard az hiz heart!

anyway, they had tons of instruments. seven plus vocals. before they started playing i was hoping it was going to be a ska band. i haven't seen a ska band in a long time. they weren't. they were a rocck band with keyboard, baritone sax, and trumpet. the singer wasn't very good either. the daughters played last and it was okay. they played well but it didn't sound good. nothing really sounded good all night. usually will's sounds nice but this night it was terrible. after the show, brian stefanie and i went to i-bar because pewep and the formats and gaynotgay were going to be there. i don't dance, but i danced all night. i think just being around so many nice people that were dancing inticed me to. and i actually had fun! we left at two thirty smelling like budussy.

04.07.23 - Friday - i woke up and went to work at nine. brian decided, around six pm, that he wanted to go to gainesville to play with jimmy's and kip's band, skeleton warrior at wayward council. we left at seven and got there around nine or ten. we stopped at leonardo's to get a couple of slices. that portobella pizza was almost worth the trip. we saw a flier for our show there, which was weird because it was just booked three hours before. we went to wayward council and met jimmy and kip and mykel on a bicycle. we played first. everybody in the room liked it, including the four random girls jimmy coerced to come. and we sold a shirt and a cd, i think. so we drove home. i wasn't very dissappointed that less than five people came. i wasn't expecting much. plus we got pizza.

04.07.24 - Saturday - i woke up and went to work at nine again. i'm really not sleeping much lately. about three to five hours a night. that's probably why i'm sick right now. anyway, after work, we went to lakeland. i've been to lakeland once and i didn't like it. it's a weird place. we got to the warehouse, or whatever it was, around seven. six bands were supposed to play. our show got cancelled and was merged with an existing metal show. i was scared about playing with metal bands. i didn't think we'd be well-received. there were already about twenty kids there at seven. the other bands showed up around eight. after some discussion, it was decided that we would play first. which turned out to be a good thing. we played around nine and were actually very well-received. we got a lot of compliments from serious metal dudes. the second band, mabus, from NY, was sick. it's not the kind of thing i think i could listen to on a recording anymore. but they were pretty incredible live. then another metal band played. i'm not sure what they were called. they were also from NY and were equally as sick. during their set, a fight broke out and the owner, steve, said that's it, show's over. i felt bad for the three bands that didn't get to play. we were in orland and at the hospital by midnight. skeleton warrior had a show at ballard and corum that night. they were at the hospital with some other nice people, so that was nice.

04.07.25 - Sunday - finally, a day off work! i got up at twelve thirty and took a shower. stefanie and brian got ready and we left for tallahassee around two. the drive was boring. four hours plus. it's as boring as the drive to gainesville but twice as long. we got there around sevenish. pewep in the formats showed up shortly there after. we loaded in around eightish. we waited for people to show up. we waited some more for people to show up. we waited until around ten thirty for people to show up. at this point we realized that nobody was going to show up. i've never played for nobody. not even with dynamite, hong kong danger duo, or brain detail. well with brain detail, i think we've cleared a room or two. but when we started playing, there were people there. i was sort of bummed about driving eight hours, spending fifty four dollars in gas and playing for pewep in the formats and stefanie. the people at the beta bar didn't seem too happy either. anyway, the show was over by eleven thirty and we left by twelve. i drove until i was almost dead at three and let brian take over. he apparently drove very quickly because we got home from the bellview/dunnelon exit off i-75 in less than an hour. i used to make that drive all the time to yessi's house and it took at least ninety minutes except that one time i went 100MPH the whole way. anyway, i slept little again and woke up and went to work monday morning at nine.

04.07.26 - Monday - i started feeling crummy. i worked nine to four. i slept after work, then i did some stuff, then i watched the assistant which is now one of my favorite shows. at around two minutes after two, i was just drifting into sleep when i heard what sounded like people fighting or killing one another. it sounded like it was right below us. i heard a loud scream and what sounded like wood hitting concrete. i couldn't sleep for an hour after that, i was petrified. i finally got to sleep at three.

04.07.27 - Tuesday - i woke up and went to work at nine. i was supposed to work two to nine in the pharmacy, but michelle called me and asked me to work for her from nine to two in the photo lab and then from two to nine in the pharmacy. i was not looking forward to doing this again. so i worked and felt sick. a girl in the pharmacy came up around noon and told me i didn't have to work in the pharmacy. i was pretty happy about that. so i stayed in the photo lab until four. i came home and brian told me what happened the night before. apparently, two guys were fighting and somehow ended up in the apartment below us. how this happened, i'm not quite sure. the boy who lives down there, tried to get them to leave and they hit him in the head with a four by four and then, i guess, left. i'm so glad i'm going to be out of here soon.

we're moving to 222 in less than a week. i'm pretty pumped about that. we're going to be living with some awesome people. we're leaving for tour on the third, two days after moving. that's going to be lots of fun. i'm glad i get to see zom zoms five times. they are amazing. i took some pictures of skeleton warrior and metal bands, i might post them some time if i feel like it.

after work on sunday, july fourth, i felt pretty dead. but max came in to work and brought some pictures and he invited me to somebody's house for food. so, after work, i went with max and kevin to somebody's house. i don't know who's house it was. the sky was orange, there was a rainbow and lightning and the sound of fireworks. it was crayzy. when it got dark everyone at the house tried to kill each other with bottle rockets and roman candles. i feared for my life.
brian and i started recording "Pony UP". thank you, the cougar, for the album title.
i saw fahrenheit 911. it was okay.
an old friend, maribel, contacted me via myspace. everybody on earth is also on myspace. i haven't been sleeping well, lately. i've been maintaining correspondence with emily via email and brian has been maintaining chop busting. she's way awesome and suck a fat egg brian.

040714 - yip-yip was named by orlando weekly as best electronic act. that's awesome!i rode my bike to the vegan hotdog guy on wednesday night. i got a "faggot" from a couple of guys. and i got a flat tire on the way home. i fix-a-flatted it.

040715 - i rode my bike to the independant bar on thursday night. everytime i go downtown for more than five minutes, i realize that i hate downtown. that pizza place around the corner from i-bar is probably the worst pizza in orlando. also, i hate i-bar because i don't drink or smoke or dance. all that body heat and sweat and darkness and smoke and motion. it makes me so nervous i want to start smoking again. so i met maribel there and i sat with her and her friend at a table. they probably think i'm a creep because i didn't talk much and i just fidgetted a lot. i left. that fix-a-flat isn't supposed to last forever, i guess. so i got another flat tire on the way home. i ended up walking 2+ miles home.

040716 - brian, stefanie, and i saw napolean dynamite. it was incredible! after a 2-hour battle with vulcanized rubber, i rode my bike to the winter park post office to send some special packages to some special people. then to the eating hospital. i made this for a sticker:

brian says it looks like a man is the bastard record. he's such a jerk.
